Practical learning and digital technologies motivate RMMT students in ShiftVET.
Students at RMMT recently completed the practical projects developed within Activity A2.3 of the Erasmus+ ShiftVET project, taking part in an engaging learning experience focused on 3D printing, 3D scanning and CNC technologies.
Organised in collaborative teams, students explored how advanced manufacturing technologies can be applied within vocational education through practical, project-based activities. The workshops encouraged participants to experiment with digital tools, solve technical challenges and work together to achieve common objectives.
Throughout the implementation, students showed a high level of motivation and curiosity. The combination of practical exercises and modern equipment created an active learning environment where participants could immediately apply theoretical concepts while developing technical and collaborative skills.

Although some students initially required additional support with software and equipment configuration, these challenges were progressively overcome through teamwork and guidance from trainers. Participants also expressed that having additional time for experimentation would further improve future editions of the activity.
Feedback collected after the workshops confirmed that students particularly valued the opportunity to work with technologies that are increasingly important within today’s manufacturing industries. Many also highlighted that practical learning made the experience more engaging than traditional classroom-based activities and increased their interest in digital manufacturing careers.
The successful implementation of Activity A2.3 at RMMT once again demonstrates how ShiftVET is helping vocational education institutions introduce innovative teaching methodologies while preparing students for the technological demands of the future workplace.
