On 27 January 2026, CETEM and IES José Luis Castillo Puche organised a ShiftVET technological workshop in Yecla, Spain, bringing together vocational training students and teachers to explore the opportunities offered by digital manufacturing technologies in the wood and furniture industry.
The workshop introduced participants to the ShiftVET project and its innovative training approach, focused on integrating 3D Printing, 3D Scanning and CNC technologies into vocational education. A specialist from CETEM presented the project materials and explained how these technologies are transforming manufacturing processes and creating new professional opportunities.
The session attracted strong interest from both students and teachers, who actively participated in discussions about the practical implementation of these technologies in educational environments. Participants explored topics such as production efficiency, sustainability, equipment requirements and future industry trends.

One of the most valuable aspects of the workshop was the multidisciplinary participation. Students and teachers from different vocational fields exchanged perspectives on how digital technologies can be applied across various educational programmes, demonstrating the broad potential of the ShiftVET approach.

Survey results showed a high level of satisfaction among participants, with the majority considering the technological guides useful for their future teaching or professional activities. Participants particularly appreciated the accessibility of the materials and expressed interest in additional visual resources such as video tutorials and illustrated manuals.
The workshop also highlighted the centre’s commitment to digital innovation. With existing 3D printing facilities and the planned installation of new CNC equipment, IES José Luis Castillo Puche is well positioned to incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies into its vocational training programmes.
The event represents another important milestone for ShiftVET, demonstrating how collaboration between educational institutions and industry experts can help prepare the next generation of professionals for an increasingly digital wood and furniture sector.
